Destonian Wiki Project Introduction

The point is to create a resource that is practical and created through the cooperation of many people, that are trusted and have walked the process for quite a while. The result should be more than the sum of the parts and definitely more than what one person can do to convene the Desteni message.

We do not want to rely only on one person organizing and presenting the Desteni core material - basic guidelines in a form of a section on the website. It’s static, it ages, it does not evolve. Therefore a more "advanced" approach is required.

The success and reliance on Wikipedia proves that to convene, explain, educate a Wiki is a great point to have.

What is a Wiki?

A Wiki is a website created by a community - many editors that have access to edit the content. It’s a collection of articles, categorized and constantly tweaked by the community members. It evolves with the experience of the participants. Moreover the articles are widely interlinked so the experience of reading a Wiki is very expansive and no questions remain unanswered - that is our goal.

Take a good look at Wikipedia. It’s THE resource you usually use to get information about certain specific subject, word, item. It’s so good because the guidelines - the starting point - of how to create those articles are set up very well.

We at Desteni know and have practiced quite a bit with being able to express ourselves clearly in the form of text. It’s time to utilize it and move it to the next level. Put it all together, help and support each other and keep doing it. Let’s create the ultimate written resource on the Desteni message - the Destonian Wiki.

Page Guidelines (How to write on this Wiki)

Keep it simple

Always use the shortest, simplest and most effective explanations you can come up with. People have short attention span, believe they do not have enough time and lots of them are poorly educated so they can not understand the meaning of a sentence spanning more than one line.

Be practical

The purpose of the Desteni material is to assist with self-change. The Desteni material is practical, everyday tools to use. The Destonian Wiki should be just that - a practical tool to be used to gain access to the Desteni tools in the most effective way.

You do not have to convince anyone

Throw the attitude and belief that you have to convince someone about something through your writing and explanations out of the window. On this Wiki you simple describe and convene things as they are, as they come up to you, as you would present them to yourself if you had to start over, not knowing Desteni at all. If you later see you can convene the point better, go back to your Article and edit it!

Get inspiration from Wikipedia

You can always view the source of a page on Wikipedia to learn how to do something if you see some cool formatting of the page as the Destonian Wiki uses the same software as Wikipedia.

Create links

Learn the MediaWiki syntax to be able to create effective links from the key words you use in your articles. This ensures an interactive experience for the reader as well as always providing the reader with specific explanation of each (key) word we use.

Minimize the use of external links, video or blog reference

This Wiki and the information on it should stand on it's own. Each article should give the reader a complete, yet simplistic and basic perspective on the subject. Therefore do not base your articles only on videos or external links. Write original content - this is about creating something new, something better than has ever existed within the material we provide.
